Importance Analyzing the system of indicators for evaluating the national economic securityshows that today there is no single model and method for assessing the economic security of the country. Thus, in determining the degree of economic security, there is a dilemma, i.e. it is difficult to evaluate the economic security with the single versatile indicator (economic growth, GDP per capita), and likewise, it is also very complicated to do so with a very wide range of indicators. The system of economic security indicators and their limits should be substantiated on the basis of the current state of the specific economic system, considering the main trends and opportunities of its development. Objectives The research presents a comprehensive analysis of the methods and criteria for evaluating the economic security in order to identify common evaluation indicators. Methods The article reviews the basic methods for determining the quantitative and qualitative characteristics that reflects the current state of economic security. Furthermore, we examine the basic criteria (indicators) for evaluating the economic security and options for determining them. According to the literature reviewed, we identify the stages of making an integrated assessment of economic security and consider optimal values of specific indicators. Results Currently, the system of indicators for evaluating the national economic security lacks an integrated systems concept to properly analyze the level of the national economic security. This concept should consist of permanent economic security indicators that would describe phenomena and trends in the economic sphere. This system of indicators should provide for an assessment of quantitative parameters and trends in economic security. Conclusions and Relevance There is an evident need to develop an integrated system-based concept for evaluating the economic security, and to devise indicators for assessing the current national economic security. The economic security evaluation and the comparison of the actual and projected economic security indicators reflect the course of the national economy development and the state of its fundamental life sustaining systems.
