Importance The article studies the specific features of resource-saving in construction and housing-and-utilities sector from a perspective of stages of the life cycle of constructed and operated facilities.
Objectives The paper comprehensively covers the technological cycle of construction production and the resource-supply-resource-saving technological chain in the housing and utilities sector. I pay special attention to the approach, which is prevalent in the construction and housing and utilities sectors with respect to the implementation of energy and material factors of resource-saving, taking into account operational characteristics and priorities of the considered industries.
Results I provide the statistics data, which characterize a change in the resource-saving components ratio at different stages of buildings' life cycle. I also show the inter-link and inter-dependence between energy preservation and saving of materials, as well as between construction and housing and utilities industries in approaches to resource-saving. The features of such interaction are explained by commonality of interests and approaches of the considered industries. Possible differences in priorities to energy preservation and saving of material are explained by their different goals. The corresponding diagrams and charts illustrate the obtained data and their analysis.
Conclusions and Relevance I conclude that the specific features of the approach of the construction and utilities industries to resource-saving depend on the priorities in energy and material factors of resource-saving, and functions at different stages of the life cycle of constructed and operated facilities. The research findings may be interesting for scientists, engineering and technical employees of enterprises and organizations of the construction and housing and utilities industries, and for scientific and educational institutions. The research findings can also be used in practical activity, for scientific research and educational process.
