Importance The heterogeneity of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation in terms of socio-economic development, indicators of living standards and quality of life of the population, weakens public confidence in the State, and the internal security of the country is threatened by social factors.
Objectives The purpose of the study is to assess the threat to the economic security of the region by social factors, find patterns between demographic rates and indicators of the standard of living of the population in the Vladimir region. This leads to the need to solve the following tasks: identify the Vladimir region's position among the neighboring subjects of the Central Federal District according to wealth through a comparative analysis of the income of the citizens; assess the degree of differentiation of incomes of the Vladimir region's population; build a model of dependence of selected demographic indicators on the average per capita income.
Methods I carried out an analysis of the impact of social indicators on the economic security of the region by building and comparative analysis of time series, Pareto-Lorenz-Gini methodologies, and a correlation and regression analysis. Indicators of living standards and quality of life of the population were the object to evaluate the economic security by social factors.
Results The research has shown that the economic security of the region is significantly impacted on by such threats as the growing uneven socio-economic development of the regions, the increase in property differentiation of the population, and increasing levels of poverty. The analysis revealed the influence of selected economic indicators on the population, as a whole, by modeling the relationship between the number of births and the number of deaths and the magnitude of average annual income per capita. The built models reveal that revenue growth increases in fertility and declines in mortality.
Conclusions and Relevance I conclude on the need to improve the mechanism and enhance the importance of the implementation of measures to improve the quality of life of Russian citizens through investment in human capital. The research results can be useful for State structures in shaping and improving the social policy of the regions.
