Importance In recent years, the scientists have heightened their interest in research of the demographic factor in the social and economic development of Russia. Today, this interrelation acquires particular importance, since the course on modernization of the economy proclaimed in Russia presupposes the achievement of a high scientific and technical level and production efficiency, and, as a result, the creation of a fully functioning labor market. In the long term, the problem of reproduction of labor power may be aggravated even more, since a more detailed analysis of the designated subject assumes its prominence.
Objectives The article aims to analyze the problems of labor market development in the context of demographic crisis, to examine the emergence, in this regard, of new scientific problems, to consider the developing consistent patterns and to estimate their influence on a current status of labor market.
Methods Fundamental provisions of the economic theory, the reporting data of the Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation, personal observations and my own research form a methodological basis for the present study. The research methodology pays special attention not only to the special analysis of the problems of functioning of the domestic labor market, but also to the developed countries' experience.
Results Based on the extensive factual and statistical material, I propose an integrated approach to creating a holistic mechanism of the State regulation of demographic development in terms of providing a labor market with the necessary workforce. Because of this, the demographic factor itself must serve as a basis of the State policy on labor market, and determining the approaches in the field of dynamics (increase or decrease) of jobs, and prevailing demographic trends in the area of labor resources should dictate a policy in the field of employment.
Conclusions and Relevance As the result of carried out analysis, I have come to a conclusion that the problem of labor market needs to be developed in two ways: first, from the point of view of providing a labor market with the necessary workforce and, secondly, from the point of view of its rational distribution. The conducted research can be used in activities of public authorities of the federal and regional levels (in developing the programs concerning the further labor market development and prevention of unemployment).
