A different perspective on the evaluation of the sustainability of metallurgical complex enterprises

The authors point out that the phenomena and complications of the ongoing processes in the economy continue to generate interest on behalf of the top management of companies with regard to the evaluation of the sustainability of an enterprise. The main purpose of this paper is to test the method of assessing the economic sustainability of the Chelyabinsk region metallurgical complex enterprises on the basis of the summary indicators of an economic system. On the basis of the objectives, the article sets the following objectives: to disintegrate the economic system indicators, to determine an affordable way to bring aggregated components to a digital value and to assess the sustainability of the metallurgical complex enterprises of the Chelyabinsk region. The paper describes how the fuzzy sets helped to obtain the generalized indices of the condition of the metallurgical complex of the Chelyabinsk region enterprises, as well as their surrounding economic system. The article considers an establishment of a structure of the sources of the domestic economic situation fluctuations, as well as the external economic environment. Based on two-tiered matrix of the processes which occur in the economic system, as well as on the knowledge of conditions of economic systems, the authors make an assessment of the sustainability of enterprises. The article arrives at a conclusion that in the conditions of crisis, sustainability assessment and its forecasting on the basis of the summary indicators of enterprises and economic sectors can reduce the risks of the loss of the sustainability of enterprises in the environment of the increased instability, threats and the environment challenges. The methods proposed by the paper for assessing the sustainability of enterprises can generate the interest on the part of the management of metallurgical complex, as well as of the researchers, teachers and students of all forms of training, who are engaged in studying of economics.
