The article considers specifics of political economy and institutional approaches to the research of credit and credit arrangements. Tasks and lines of research in the framework of every approach are specified. The author offers to use these approaches in interrelation, because this methodology allows formulating the economic law of the pheno-menon and determining its institutional framework, institutional sufficiency or insufficiency.
