The article analyzes the dynamics of fruits and berries production, fruit supply of the population, imports of fruits and berries, the problems of development fruit-growing industry in Russia. The authors reveal the directions of increasing of the efficiency of fruit- growing based on innovation. These directions include: improvement of technology of cultivation of fruit crops, application of progressive storage of fruits and berries, the introduction of more productive disease-resistant varieties of fruit crops, the use of drip irrigation systems and complex mechanization in harvesting fruits. The paper calculates the economic effect of application of new technologies for cultivation of fruit crops and storage products.
