In the article the example of engineering and metalworking sectors volume, dynamics and structure of investment in the manufacturing sector of the country are analyzed. The experience of the Federation of the Central Federal district is studied. It is concluded that the need to increase investment program from internal sources, strengthening the state's role in shaping the investment climate and attract foreign investment to the technical and technological modernization of the domestic industry.
