In the article the maintenance of a trade secret as factor of development of innovative activity is analyzed. The mechanism of formation of the trade secret, considering system of factors of stimulation of creation of confidential commercially valuable information is presented. The model of factorial interrelation of competitiveness and trade secret of businessmen is offered. The main methods of effective protection of a trade secret are characterized.
