The "green" economy: issues of theory and directions of development

In the article the essence and the content of the terms "sustainability" and "sustainable development" is revealed. The methodological approaches to the category of "sustainability" are considered. Systematized historical-economic views on the environment are generalized. The dimensions of the essence of sustainable development are shown. The directions of transition to a green economy on the example of eco-tourism in the Vologda region are identified and justified.
