In the article the contents of such characteristics of the project as the project purposes, the size, the decision on project start, subject domain and project resources are specified. The question of asymmetry of the customer and the performer of the project, being shown in discrepancy of phases of life cycle of the project and career cycles of participants of the project, a difference in perception of usefulness of the project, the importance of the project and level of competence of its subject domain is considered. Synthesis of empirical data on a course of realization of projects is carried out.
