In the article on the basis of the analysis of history of development of human societies and results of various researches of the category "state" is shown that the formation of the states grew out of evolutionary development of human systems through their cooperation for fight against other similar systems for the vital resources. Emergence of the state was caused by development of an instinct of self-preservation and reproduction of human individuals before awareness of advantages of general welfare over the personal.
