The critical analysis of the problems of definition of the purposes and tasks of development of aviation science in Russia is carried out. It is shown that thus it is not necessary to be limited only to interests of the national aviation industry. The conditions under which even those studies, which apply mainly abroad, will have a positive impact on the economic situation of the Russian aircraft industry are revealed.
