In the article the problem of an ecological situation in Khanty-Mansi autonomous district - Yugra is considered. Value, place and role of use of foreign experience in a part of ecological policy for achievement of sustainable development of the Russian northern region - Khanty-Mansi autonomous district -Yugra are revealed. In these purposes it is executed comparative the analysis of two northern regions - the Russian region - Khanty-Mansi autonomous district - Yugra and the Scandinavian country - Finland. By the results of the analysis one of possible solutions of an environmental problem of the district - preservation of natural territories is given.
