In the article the key problems of Russian development as recipient of the foreign capital in the form of direct investments are considered, preconditions and restrictions of streams of direct foreign investment are investigated. Russia is attractive to the foreign capital mainly in extracting industries. Despite dynamic growth direct foreign investments (PII) hardly can be considered as the driver of competitiveness and country modernization. The most part of PII is formed generally at the expense of growth of the income of participation in the capital Russian the companies ? and growth of debts, inflow of the offshore capital
