In the article the role of farms of the population in production of agricultural production and food supply of rural families is presented. On the basis of the analysis of marketability, costs of work of housekeeping and readiness to increase volume of production at confluence of favorable circumstances the thesis about low economic potential of farms of the population of the Republic Khakassia are revealed. The assumption of further reduction of volume of production by farms of the population of agricultural production under the influence of subjective and objective factors is made.
