Compensation for the socio-economic damage caused by spring floods in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)

In connection to the increasing number of catastrophic floods all over the world, the problem of creating the effective system of protection and assessment of damage from natural disasters has recently great urgency. The specifics of economic evaluation of spring freshet damage in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) are studied in this article The most intensity of natural disasters the period from 1998 to 2010 are analyzed. Special attention is paid to the insurance as a perspective tool of economic and legal mechanism of decreasing the probability of emergency situations and compensations of damages.
