In the article the current approaches to the formation of regional innovation infrastructure are presented, the essential characteristics of the concept of "innovation" are revealed, the composition of factors associated with the need for priority development of regional innovation systems, major subsystems identified the relationship of innovation infrastructure are determined, the function and purpose of its formation and development are justified.
