Regional model of corporate social responsibility (Evidence from Islamic countries)

Taking into account cultural orientation gives us a key for elaborating a regional CSR model. Islamic countries experience gives us an understanding how fitting religious traditions and norms into CSR practice facilitates its better dissemination. The author points out that Islamic business ethics corresponds to a great extent to the concepts of CSR and Sustainable development. She quotes sura(hs) from Qur’an and Hadiths. Further she analyses different Islamic institutions in the field of CSR and criticizes Islamic banks for insufficient disclosure of information related to CSR activities. The author indicates that Islamic investment funds might be regarded as a variety of Socially Responsible Investment funds. The paper concludes that Islamic CSR model is of great importance from the standpoint of studying CSR in global context. Furthermore some of its components could be implemented in particular Russian regions.
