Мethodological aspects in creating system of strategic management as applied to the forest sector

An analysis of the main tendencies and problems of sustainable development as applied to the Russian forest sector has been made. The legal and economic framework severely limits the possibilities of implementing the main tasks for state forest sector management, especially withdrawal of forest rent, providing of competitive business environment as applied to forest resource use and manufacturing, the creation of funds for stimulating innovative development of forest industry. Finally, current discussions on the need for a revision of the methodology and practice of forest sector strategic management are briefly considered.
