Problems of food maintenance of the regions, connected with considerable distinctions between them on prirodno-environmental conditions, productive and economic potential, and also a social infrastructure are considered. Functions and features of an economic category «food safety of region», as regarding formation of sources of the foodstuffs, and mechanisms of their functioning are defined.
