In the article the condition and prospects of development of innovative activity at the enterprises of an oboronno-industrial complex of the Russian Federation as the important component in maintenance of military-economic safety of the state is considered. Theoretical approaches to essence, principles and the purposes of formation of the enterprises of innovative type are investigated. The role of enterprises OPK in the external economic strategy of the state on expansion of export of high technology machine-building production and technologies reveals.
