The high-profile and daring murder of lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist of “Novaya gazeta” Anastasia Baburova was committed in downtown Moscow. The murder was witnessed by dozens of passers-by, however the killer managed to escape. Valeriy Gribakin, Head of the Communications Department, Ministry of Internal Affairs, police major general related to the investigation of the above and other high-profile crimes as interviewed by the observer of ITAR-TASS News Agency. Among other things he points out that an interdepartment operational and investigation group was created to inquire into the case.
