Subject. Mergers and acquisitions of Russian companies. Objectives. To determine the specifics of conditions for companies to participate in modern mergers and acquisitions in Russia in 2021–2025 and their impact on corporate strategies. Methods. The research was conducted on the basis of historical and systems approaches, using methods of analysis, synthesis, comparison, generalization, etc. Results. The current period of mergers and acquisitions is significantly different from the previous ones. These changes are related to the consequences of the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions, changes in economic policy, correction of sources of financing, and the inclusion of digital technologies in mandatory elements of business structures. These conditions determined the diverse dynamics of transactions within a single period, their terms and nature, as well as various strategies of companies. Conclusions. The difficult stage of mergers and acquisitions is coming to an end, in which the trends towards an increase in their number have been replaced by a trend towards a reduction. This reversal is objective in nature, it naturally changes the financial strategy of companies: from actively joining to ensuring the financial stability and efficiency of the aggregated business.
