Subject. The article addresses control and evaluation of company's operations by the owner. Objectives. The focus is on systematization of indicators for evaluating and controlling the company's performance, its investment attractiveness, and the work of top managers, from the position of an investor and CEO. Methods. The study employs general scientific methods, like analysis, comparison, systematization, graphical and tabular methods of data presentation. Results. We considered various approaches to evaluating the company's activities: from final indicators of value through financial and non-financial meters to actions aimed at improving relevant indicators, highlighted and formulated advantages and disadvantages of each approach. The paper determines features and possibilities of their use, taking into account the specifics of the context and goals of the investor in relation to a particular company. Conclusions. The tools and indicators for monitoring the activities of the company and its top managers should be selected depending on the specifics of the investor, his share in the business, natural proximity to the operating activities of the enterprise, knowledge of the industry and business, and desire to devote significant time to control.
