Subject This paper explores the process of forecasting of socio-economic development in terms of planned transition of the State economic apparatus to program-targeted and project methods of management under the influence of the current market trends.
Objectives The paper aims to propose ways of theoretical and practical application and improvement of tools for forecasting and managing the economic processes in Russia. It also aims to assess the factors influencing the current economy's development as well as consider the parameters of the basis scenario of the economic system's development.
Methods The study uses the mathematical method of spline approximation, methods of horizontal and vertical, graphical, and comparative analyses.
Results The research reveals that the forecasting system of socio-economic development and strategic management requires the State authorities' focus on systematization of the used strategic plans and target programs.
Conclusions and Relevance The results obtained can be helpful in developing future strategic guidelines for the planning of Russia's economic and social policies. Assessing the applicability and probability of forecasting on the basis of macroeconomic parameters makes it possible to assess the future directions of the economy's development.
