Importance The research analyzes the socio-economic activities of elderly population.
Objectives The research combines fragmented data in public sources for a better understanding of the socio-economic activities of elderly population during the crisis in the Russian Federation and forecast further development and possible economic consequences for the population.
Methods Using statistical methods, I analyzed certain aspects of the effect the crisis had on the socio-economic activities of elderly population.
Results I presented analytical and statistical data reflecting the socio-economic activities of elderly population in the Russian Federation, and identified possible trends.
Conclusions and Relevance Considering the population aging and projected growth in people above the working age, their specific weight within the national population, increasing demographic burden and gender disparity, the use of the existing approaches and stereotypes in relation to the elderly population is exposed to significant political, financial and social risks. Probable risks may increase due to the existing problems and barriers for the elderly people.
