Importance The article focuses on disparity of prices in the agri-industrial sector of Russia.
Objectives The research comprehensively analyzes the financial position of the Russian agriculture, determines key issues that impede the development of the agricultural sector, reviews the State program and interim programs for the AIC development for 2015–2020, and scrutinizes how agriculture may get through economic sanctions.
Methods We applied methods of comparative analysis, systematization, classification, analogy, and correlation.
Results The article presents a comprehensive overview of the financial background of the Russian agriculture, factors obstructing its development, and an analysis of the State programs for agricultural development for 2015–2020, and determines what role the AIC plays in tackling implications of the economic sanctions.
Conclusions and Relevance There can be seen a growth in agricultural products and their processing. Hence, it is evidence that the national food security strengthens. It mainly relates to increased State support and manufacturers' initiatives. However, the import substitution initiative will not be feasible if the issues are not addressed.
