Importance The article deals with organizational and economic aspects of ensuring the power supply quality in energy systems, which include inflexible solar and wind power generation.
Objectives The research investigates organizational and economic issues arising from integration of solar and wind generation facilities into the single energy system. It required a more detailed and comprehensive analysis.
Methods I applied methods of bibliographic, economic and statistical analysis. The information framework comprises reports on tenders of renewable energy projects for 2013–2015, and official annual reports of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, analytical and information materials of the subcommittee of Elektroenergetika Technological Committee at the Federal Agency on Technical Regulating and Metrology.
Results I analyzed how segments of the solar and wind power equipment market developed, and reviewed what opportunities the Russian manufacturers had in these markets. The article also overviews global expertise in management of energy systems with mixed generation types.
Conclusions and Relevance I evaluated how solar and wind power engineering might penetrate anchor regions leading in renewable energy development, identified key issues that impeded the integration of solar and wind power stations into the single network. The article proposes how to improve the regulatory and legislative framework and economic mechanisms for stimulating the process of enhancing the power supply quality in energy systems with mixed generation types.
