Importance The article presents some results of the research into the remarriage market and individual strategies of after-divorce behavior in contemporary Russia.
Objectives The research examines the existing trends in the remarriage market and identifies typical forms of behavior after divorce.
Methods I made a representative sample and surveyed citizens of Volgograd and several districts of the Volgograd oblast who used to be officially married. Primary data were processed with specialized computer-assisted software, using methods of descriptive statistics, cross tables, and classical correlation and factor analysis.
Results I obtained information on what factors made demographically active population choose a specific after-divorce strategy in contemporary Russia.
Conclusions and Relevance Divorce in Russia is more often than not a voluntary decision of both spouses, which they regard as one of possible scenarios for marital and family relations, without excluding a new marriage. Children are not the reason for terminating the existing marriage and entering a new one. Gender, age, after-divorce period are key factors influencing the choice of the after-divorce strategy, with the educational level being another aspect that is important for the men's strategy.
