On the choice of versatile non-cost measurement in economics

Importance The article overviews some aspects of the contemporary practice of measuring (comparing and matching) heterogeneous properties of controlled processes and entities in the manufacturing and socio-economic sectors. The article discusses whether it is possible to use the scale of orders of quantiles of empirical distribution as a versatile measure.
     Objectives Currently, notwithstanding the unparalleled development of IT and communications, there is no uniform, unbiased, automatic instrumentation that would compare and match a variety of heterogeneous properties, factors and characteristics. We see no systemic evaluation of any results produced by the hired work force (exhaustively, completely, respectively, in numbers, in the tracking mode, in comparable scale). Such fragmented nature, distant position of crucial components of the management process, more often than not, cause undesirable results and make administrative management inertial, inefficient, and difficult to construe. This is the reason why we tackle such objectives as determining the specific substance and options of measurement.
     Results We provide a brief description of the options mentioned and identify the reasons why some scientific disciplines try to extrapolate cost-based metrics to non-economic activities. The research reveals strengths and weaknesses various measurement types have.
     Conclusions and Relevance
Availability of various measurement methods does not necessarily imply an increase in the quality and accuracy of comparison, as it happens in technical measurements, when various measurement instruments are used to minimize or avoid any errors. Currently, it is impossible to talk even about simple classification of the methods for purposes of socio-economic measurement, to say nothing about their unification. The main contemporary trend in finding the versatile format of measuring heterogeneous properties may be represented with the concept of synthesizing statistic and analytical methodology and methods of artificial intellectualizing the measurement techniques in economics.
