The article deals with the experience of the functioning of special drawing rights. The authors identify the reasons for limiting the scope of a given asset application, they examine the problems associated with its emission and distribution among countries. The paper examines the prospects for expanding the use of special drawing rights as means of payment and reservation. The authors evaluate the impact of the countries of issue of the key currencies on the policy of the International Monetary Fund in the field of financial regulation.
