Formation and development of modern society go hand in hand with the development of communication links both as the information and the material one. Transport industry, covering the entire globe by various routes, serves as an interlink between the territories. Russia, which is the biggest extended country of the world, provides communications of all kinds, but, nevertheless, there remain the regions not covered by the transport lines. The article considers problems that prevent domestic transport industry to compete with foreign carriers and deliver its services to the international market.
