The article investigates the experience of monetary integration of the countries and regions. The author analyzes the ways of formation of the currency unions and the prospects of accession of the Republic of Belarus to a zone of Russian ruble. The paper considers specifics of monetary integration of the CIS countries and the ways of formation of a currency zone in the former Soviet Union territory. The author estimates the prospects of Russian ruble in the international monetary relations.
