In the article a comparative characteristic of activity and monetary policy of the central bank of Mongolia and Russia are made. With the methodology, which is developed by the author the effectiveness of the monetary policy are analyzed. It is concluded that in both countries there is a medium degree of correlation between inflation and the instruments of policy. This is explained by the fact that the current level of inflation in Mongolia, as well as in Russia, is defined by non-monetary factors.
