The article is devoted to research of modern features of development of small business in the Arkhangelsk region. The analysis of development of small business in the region in comparison with other subjects of the North Western federal district and the developed foreign countries is carried out. The forms of the state support of small enterprises are considered. The main problems of formation and development of this sphere are revealed and the directions of their decision are defined.
