States and international financial organizations have become increasingly vocal about the rising costs of anti-money laundering regulation, and the limited benefits that appears to bring. This cost efficiency issue is now widely discussed by practitioners and researchers working on methods and techniques to combat money laundering. The main principles which place the grounds for methodology behind the system and activities to fight against financial crimes in the world are analyzed in this paper.
