In the article the reciprocal effect of such factors of the labor market as demographic situation, structure of labor force, functioning of the services of employment, is examined. The dynamics of the coefficient of tension on the market for labor, level of unemployment, supply and demand for the labor is analyzed. The methods of increasing the effectiveness of the functioning of labor resources in Saint Petersburg are determined.
