In the article trends in development of the world currency system are analyzed: recovery to the gold exchange standard, the introduction of supranational world currency, an increase in the number of reserve currencies, shaping of new currency areas. Is made the conclusion that an increase in the quantity of regional and world reserve currencies is the most probable scenario of development.
