There has been no hiding place for equity investors. Diversification has been a washout: stock markets have been almost perfectly correlated with each other. Return of capital has become more important than return on capital. The next phase of the world’s economic downturn is taking shape: a global jobs crisis. In America the equity tied up in houses accounts for 45% of the net worth of the average householder.
