New participants of financial markets – sovereign funds

There are different definitions of a sovereign wealth fund. According to one of them this is a special cash fund which is used for stabilization of a government budget in periods of reduction of income and/or for needs of the country in long term prospective. According to the other one it is a government investment fund consisting of shares, bonds, immovable property and/or other financial instruments denominated in foreign currency. Part of assets may be invested inside of economy. In the article these new participants of financial market are considered thoroughly.
