Subject. Structural imbalances of the resource model of development in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). Objectives. To identify the key imbalances in the socio-economic development of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and to offer recommendations on how to overcome them. Methods. The method of forecasting and innovative crisis management based on a system-information approach is used. Results. A critical analysis of the socio-economic development of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is presented as a representative of the resource regions of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. Based on the analysis of statistical data and empirical research materials for 2020-2025, the structural characteristics of the economy, demographic processes, the state of the labor market and the social sphere are analyzed. A key contradiction has been identified: leadership in terms of GRP growth and investment in the Far Eastern Federal District is combined with the persistence of housing affordability problems, staffing shortages, and dependence of the regional budget on the activities of a limited number of corporations. Special attention is paid to the institutional role of city-forming companies in shaping budget and social policy. Proposals have been formulated to review the priorities of regional policy with an emphasis on the development of human capital and the diversification of the economic structure. Conclusions. The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) has the necessary prerequisites for the transition to a more balanced development model through the initiation of institutional changes by regional authorities that ensure the conversion of natural rents into sustainable growth of human capital and continuous improvement of the quality of life of the population.
