Subject. The reasons that led large companies to insolvency.
Objectives. To identify the factors that led large companies to insolvency.
Methods. For the study, we used descriptive, comparative, analytical, and comparative methods.
Results. The main reasons that led large foreign and Russian companies to insolvency are shown. It has been established that the company's use of a deliberately false development strategy, despite the fact that it contributes to its fictitious growth to the level of a large company, ultimately leads to its insolvency. The factors that led large companies to a negative result of their activities, namely, insolvency, have been identified.
Conclusions. Despite all the differences, the reasons for the insolvency of large companies are the same both in Russia and abroad. A special feature for Russian large companies is their dependence on the external and internal political and economic situation.
