Subject. The article deals with State investment and financial support for the development of agro-regions provided by development institutions. Objectives. The purpose of the study is to assess the compliance of the volume of State support for agricultural regions (according to the totality of development institutions) with their contribution to the development of the national economy. Methods. The paper employs methods of comparative, systems, statistical analysis, and a case study. Results. I offered my uniquely designed index of inclusion of the agro-region in the system of investment and financial State support, the components of which are the resources of the main institutions of regional development. Based on the index, I calculated the level of inclusion of the main agricultural regions of the country in this system. I compared the calculated values of the index with the contribution of regions to the economic development of the country (according to the GRP indicator). The proposed approach complements the system of methods for regulating the state of the regional economy, and can be considered as the basis for making decisions on government support. Conclusions. The study revealed that for all the agro-regions accepted for analysis, the rank of their level of inclusion in the system of State investment and financial support (according to the group of analyzed development institutions) corresponds to the region's share in the total GRP of the country.
