Subject. The article considers the conceptual framework of the climate policy of the Russian Federation.
Objectives. The focus is on the comprehensive review of the main targets of Russia’s climate policy and their comparison with key global trends.
Methods. The study rests on general scientific research methods.
Results. The paper established that the climate policy of the Russian Federation as a whole corresponds to the general global trends. Currently, Russia has identified the key cross-sectoral and sectoral targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, created its legislative and regulatory framework, and developed a system of system-wide and sectoral measures.
Conclusions. The system of targets adopted in the Russian Federation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions generally corresponds to global trends. It is aimed at both the conversion of key greenhouse gas emitting industries to low-carbon technologies and the creation of a climate asset.

Keywords: climate policy, greenhouse gas, greenhouse gas emitting industries
