Subject. The article addresses the development of methodological approaches to integrated assessment of innovative environment of the subjects of the Russian Federation.
Objectives. The aim of the study is to identify problems associated with objective and qualitative assessment of innovative environment of the subjects of the Russian Federation and analyze possible ways and means of solving them.
Methods. The study rests on the content analysis of available sources. We also apply methods of systems, comparative, structural, and logical analysis.
Results. The paper highlights gaps in the assessment of innovative environment of the subjects of the Russian Federation, which enable to improve the efficiency of the said environment; analyzes possible solutions. We offer an assessment methodology and provide recommendations for better development of innovative environment.
Conclusions. It is desirable to have better-quality and more objective tools to assess the level of innovative environment of the subjects of the Russian Federation. Appropriate measures should be applied to accelerate the innovative development of relevant constituent entities.
