Subject The article considers the various solutions to increase innovation of plants and complexes, opportunities and resources of such an increase, and interaction and financing schemes of innovative companies.
Objectives The purpose of the study is to review innovation-driven growth in the Russian Federation, in particular, the indirect indicator of innovative development, i.e. internal costs of research and development; to analyze key factors of innovation in Russia; to formulate recommendations on innovation activity improvement in the country.
Methods I apply modern methods and tools of complex analysis on the basis of relevant material systematization and structuring.
Results The paper presents trends in internal costs of research and development in the countries of the world, changes in the number of organizations involved in research and development by type of organizations in the Russian Federation, expenditure for citizen science from the Federal budget. I also developed a correlation-regression model and recommendations on specifics of innovative development and its improvement in Russia.
Conclusions The significance of the study is in the possibility to use the obtained results in practice.
