Importance Under crisis conditions, the transition of the economy of fuel and raw material orientation to innovative development and the scale of the process increases the relevance of research in improving the methodological support to cost estimates and expected effect of innovative project implementation.
Objectives The study aims to underpin methodological tools for assessing the impact of the degree of radical innovation implemented to create complex technical systems at the preproduction test stage.
Methods The methodological tools were developed on the basis of economic and mathematical modeling.
Results The outcome of the study is the developed methodological tools to assess the influence of the degree of radical innovation on cost and time frame of prototypes, as one of the most resource-intensive stage of R&D.
Conclusions and Relevance The developed methodological tools are feasible and provide high reliability of economic assessments made on their basis. It is possible to apply the tools under limited data during prototype testing.
