Importance Information and communication technologies (ICT) are the foundation of modern social and economic relations. Understanding the susceptibility of economic sectors to the use of information and communication products and services enables to adequately forecast the development of regional economic systems.
Objectives The aim of the study is to build the methodological basis of susceptibility of region's industries to information and technology; compare the concepts of information-and-technology susceptibility and innovation susceptibility and define unifying factors; develop a model of industries' susceptibility to information technology in a region based on the analysis of socio-economic system's stability.
Methods The paper employs the analogy method, generalization of empirical facts, the scientific method of spatial extrapolation.
Results Susceptibility of region's economic sectors to information and technology industries has a dualistic nature. It is divided into innovative and traditional susceptibility.
Conclusions and Relevance The methodology for determining the susceptibility of the industry to information and communication technologies makes it possible to forecast the development of ICT in the region. The study defines the need for dual assessment of susceptibility of industries to information and technology in the region. The findings disproved the hypothesis on the most sensitive economic sector of the region to ICT in the event of its instability as compared to the state of equilibrium.
