Subject Due to the involvement of lucrative and highly-liquid mineral raw materials and fuel and energy resources of the Arctic zone of Yakutia in the national economy, the issue of creating a high-performance power system becomes increasingly urgent.
Objectives The study aims to set priorities of innovative development of the electric power system through developing the local energy resources of the Arctic zone of Yakutia, and to identify ways and methods to build the electricity system contributing to the creation of a large Arctic industrial complex.
Methods I employed methods of comprehensive and systems approach, analysis and synthesis, comparison, methods of statistical and mathematical data processing to identify innovative aspects of the electric power infrastructure development of the Arctic zone of Yakutia.
Results I describe ways and methods to build and develop the fuel and energy infrastructure of municipalities based on widespread use of renewable energy sources (RES), involvement in the fuel mix of coal and hydrocarbons of small local deposits located in the municipal districts, construction of small hydro power plants (SHP), low-power modular processing plants and nuclear power stations, etc.
Conclusions To create an innovative power system in the Arctic zone of Yakutia, it is expedient to build new power generating facilities that would contribute to enhancing the energy potential of the Arctic zone, organize the energy and resource-saving system based on alternative renewable energy sources, construct cogeneration facilities for simultaneous production of electricity and heat and transmission lines connecting the independent sources of power supply.
